Biology/Wild salmon vs. cattle ranch cow

Question
How many myotomes does a salmon use to swim upstream? And how many muscles does a cow use to stand in a field?
To be honest Karen I have no idea how to answer this. I would suspect that a swimming fish uses all it has and I do not know how many that is. As to the cow I would think that all leg muscles are involved and I would have to look at cow anatomy to get this number. Sorry I could not be more explicit.
