Biology/belly buttons

QuestionHello,
I've been watching a show called Kyle XY. In short, it's about a boy with amnesia and no belly button, but he's extremely intelligent. A friend and I were discussing the belly button issue. We were wondering if common animals (ie cats, dogs, horses, etc.) have belly buttons. I believe they're mammals and therefore should have been connect to a placenta, but I'm not positive and have never seen one on any of them. Also, can you think of any circumstances wehre a person wouldn't have a belly button? Thank you.
AnswerHi Adam:
All placental mammals were attached to the uterus and they have a naval (or belly button) where the umbelical cord was attached. Some may be more prominent then others. If you closely at a cat or dogs belly you will see one.
I have nephew that has no belly button because he was born with abdominal muscle tissue but after a lot of surgeries he is fine now. He just has scar tissue.
If we thke the scriptures literally (which I do not) the first Adam shouldn't have had one either.
