Why do we breathe?

Answer
 Do you mean the reason we breath or what makes us breath?
  Reason: Breathing is the mechanism by which we take in oxygen and expell carbon dioxide.
  Causative action: The diaphragm muscle contracts and expands changing the pressure in the chest and forcing air in and out.
