Question
Apart from receiving cell signal, what is an important function of the cell receptor?

Answer
Dear Soon Lee,

I am not exactly sure what you mean by "cell receptor."  Do you mean protein binding sites on the plasma membrane that link to specific molecules with which the cell comes into contact?

Please be a bit more specific, and I'll try to help.  I'm leaving the office now, and my ISP is down at home, so I may not be able to answer you until Monday.  Hope you don't need an answer before then.

Have a good weekend!
