Question
How would you describe interpendence of living organisms?

Answer
There are three unofficial Laws of Ecology that I teach my students;
 Everything has to go someplace
 Everything is connected to everything else
 There is no such thing as a free lunch

 The first implies that the amount of matter in the universe is constant.  All organisms depend upon recycling
 The second tells us that living cells depend upon other living cells.  Animals need plants for O2 and glucose
  The third refers to the Law of Entropy. Matter tends to work toward disorder
