Question
i know all homoestatic functions of the body invlove feedback mechanisms. why is this vital for the body? can you give an example to supportthe answer please

Answer
HI KATH:
It is vital that physiological activites are kept under control.  Homeostasis is the maintainance of the status quo.  Consider thermoregulation.  Body temperature must be kept around 37.5 degrees C. Too mouch variation and the enzymes do not work. When it drops you shiver, the capillaries are constricted and the metabolic rate increases.  These adjustments are negative feedback mechanisms.  Wher your bodt temperature increases you perspire and capillaries dilate to increase heat loss.
