Question
hi, i wanted to know why there is no duplication of the DNA between meiosis l and meiosis ll? i looked in my textbook and on the internet but i couldnt find anything. (this isnt a homework question)  thanks alot

Answer
The whole purpose of a mitotic division is reduction division and the production if gametes.  Mitosis occurs in two stages and the first stage allows for redistribution of genetic material.  The second stage then brings about the separation of the alleles.
I don't know if I have helped because this is a "why" question and "why" questions involve evolutionary biology and are hard to answer.  Why are there two stages?  Because it works best.
