Question
What kind of fungus, bacteria or mold causes the stinky smell in sneakers?
What is the best way to grow it so that I can look at it under my microscope?

Thank you!

Answer
The usual cause of smelly sneakers is the presence of two different types of bacteria:  Corynibacterium and Microccus.  Sometimes yeasts can be involved.
You will have to culture the bacteria before you can see them under a scope. You will need media and sterile swabs.  Swab the inside of the shoes and streak a plate.  When you get the colonies you can make smears and examine them.  If you have trouble doing this let me know.
