Biology/micro / macro evolution

Question
Do you not distinguish between micro and macro evolution?  The US National Science Foundation and many universities (e.g. UC Berkeley) do.  Microevolution is what we observe. No one denies that. Macroevolution is inferred and largely based on the fossils.   It seems disingenuous to look at small observable changes within a population, and then ridicule anyone who would not agree the evidence does not clearly support macroevolution; fish to reptiles to mammals to modern man.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello Todd;
Fossil evidence is no longer needed to support macroevolution.  Evolutionary change is supported through DNA.  The controversy is not whether of not evolution is a fact but about the processes through which evolutionary change occurs.
  I would like to direct you to a book called The Language of God by Francis Collins, a devout Christian and the scientist behind the discovery of the Human Genome.
