Question
If I went on a total protein diet, could I still have energy? At what point would the protein enter the energy cycle? Could I still get fat?

Answer
Certainly. Proteins are digested into amino acids and The amino acids.  The amino acids are deaminated and the Nh2 is converted to ures but the carbon chain is metabolized and used as a reactant in the steps in aerobic respiration. Some are converted to pyruvate and enter the Kreb cycle others as acetyl coA.
Can you get fat from proteins?  It depends upon how much you eat.  Excess proteins can be stored but are not converted lipids.
