Question
If I went on a total protein diet, could I still have energy? At what point would the protein enter the energy cycle? Could I still get fat?

Answer
 Hi ron
All ingested organic compounds are digested and proteins are broken down into amino acids.  Some of these amino acids are deaminated. The NH2 becomes urea and the carbon chain becomes pyruvate and enters the Kreb cycle. Therefore proteins enter respiration after glycolysis.  Amino acids do not become lipids but if you  increase your caloric intakeeat you will still gain weight.
