Question

Hi Mr. Hintz,
My son wants to do an experiment on the regeneration of flatworms but we don't know where to find them or how to set up this experiment or how long it will take - he has about 2 weeks to do this. If you think he won't have enough time, can you suggest another experiment utilizing the scientific method?
Thanks in advance any help you can offer---------

Answer
Two weeks is not much time  and it takes more than two weeks for generation in planaria to occur. They can be collected from a stream but at this time of a year in N.E. it is out of the question.  You can buy them from Carolina Biological supply Co. (find on net) but I would suggest another project.
 Got ot this web site:
http://www.cdli~jbarron/biology.html

Here you will find many projects at different grade levels and some that can be done in 2 weeks.
Let me know if you need help with one of them.

I love the Cape.  I used to camp there in Brewster every summer
