Light passes into the eye not only directly from the front but also from the sides and strikes the retina at angles. All images pass  through the optic nerve and are interpreted in the occipital lobe. What is your hypothesis for your project?

Answer
Sounds like an interesting topic Cat. During your research part see if you can find out information about animals that do not have binocular vision like those with eyes to the side of their heads. Horses for example. Perhaps you could also find out about those who are blind in one eye.
