Question
Hello Sir!
i need your help in making a list of drugs that can cross blood brain barrier,i only have a few to name but couldn't find a whole list of drugs currently in medical use.

Answer
Hi, Sabiya,

Thanks for your question.

Relatively easy - any drug that is designed to be given orally, i.m. s.c. or i.v. and acts on the brain MUST cross the blood-brain barrier.

e.g. opiates (morphine, methadone, meperidine), anxiolytics (diazepam, temazepam), SSRI's (paroxetine), anti-psychotics (chlorpromazine, promethazine).

Drug needs to be lipid (fat) soluble to cross the BBB.

OK?
