Biotech & Biomedical - new nano technology

Expert: Dr.Paul Skett - 6/2/2009

Question
have read articles on this as a new superior form of medicine delivery and supplementation ie,vitamins etc,it seems to be the new wonder cure ;but have just seen a very scary warning on the internet claiming it is a new way of killing the masses and is a very real danger to all with some kind of depopulation agenda, being interested in health i found this website alarming, are these people misinformed or conspiricy theorists, dont know if this is your field but thought id give it a try ,cheers peter

Answer
Hi, Peter,

As with all new technology, nanotechnology has the potential for great good or to be abused (e.g. nuclear power, genetic modifications) - nanotech could be a life-saver (nanobots injected that can monitor blood sugar levels and release (or even make) insulin as required - a full cure for diabetes) but likewise nanobots could be designed to release poisons at specific signals.

As long as there are adequate controls, there is little danger from nanotechnology.

Hope this is useful to you.

Best wishes,

Paul
