Question
I was told by a friend that the 2 active ingredients in EFFEXOR have been specifically proven to most highly effective in men more than woman. He claims that the chemical makeup of the male brain is more receptive to these combined ingredients.  He stated that there was independent proof of the results. Can you tell me anything?

Answer
Don,

It is, indeed, true that the male and female brains are different - this is well documented and I have done some work on this myself. As to the sex specific effects of EFFEXOR, I can find no information by a full search of my scientific literature database that suggests that this is the case. This is not to say that there is no difference, just that I can't find any evidence.

Best wishes,
