Question
I'm an 82 year old male diagnosed as above. I've used prednisone (more or less as needed) and Cellsept (1000mg). Prednisone gave serious side effects (including leg muscle loss). Going to 2000mg Cellsept and 10mg prednisone. Feet swollen. Related to Cellsept? Will this increased dose of Cellsept help?  More or different side effects?  Thanks.  Leonard

Answer
Hi, Leonard,

Thanks for your question.

I assume this is a change in medication sanctioned by your physician - it would be unwise to mess with a combination therapy of this type without expert guidance.

The foot swelling could be a problem with water balance or circulatory problems - both are seen with Cellsept(R) in some patients and the side effects are more severe with higher doses.

I would advise not changing your combination therapy without expert input from your physician.

Best wishes,
