Question
We have measured the percentage of a drug that is being bound by plasma protein by equilibrium dialysis. Unfortunately, we have only single measurements, but at two different drug concentrations. The results are consistent comparing the two concentrations. I wonder whether we still need to do the measurement in duplicat.

Answer
Hi, Uwe,

Thanks for your question.

This is more an experimental design question than a pharmacology question - but making single measurements is never a good idea as you can't be sure it is a valid result - duplicates are better (at least it indicates if something is wrong if you get two different results!).

Depends how confident you need to be of the result - the more replicates of the same experiment, the more confident you can be of the overall result.

Best wishes,

Paul
