Bipolar Disorder/Homeopathic Medication?

Question
My brother is extremly bipolar. He has been clinically diagnosed since he was
eight. As an adult medical insurance is one thing he hasnt kept up with and is
in desperate need of medication. Hes the father of my five year old nephew
who excerts signs of bipolar as well as possibly asperger's sydnrome. He just
started preschool this year and has had many problems. The teacher had a
behaivoral theropist come in and observe him and this was his thoughts as
well. My brother in is state denies and refuses to let them test him and my
brothers highs and lows have increasingly gotten worse to the point where
hes constantly depressed, sucidial and drunk. Ive heard of the advances in
homeopathic treatments and was wondering if there was something that he
could get his hands on to help. I know proper treatment for something like
this involves consealing as well as medication but I think if he could get on
something his outlook on life will change. I not only am worried about him
but also the state for my young nephew. Any suggestions would be much
apperciated.

Answer
Hi, Amber . . .

I understand your concern for you brother and nephew. Unfortunately, there is no scientific evidence that there is any homeopathic treatment that is effective when it comes to controlling the symptoms of bipolar disorder.

It would be a VERY difficult thing for you to do, but if you are sufficiently worried about the welfare of your nephew, you might have to phone child protective services in the jurisdiction where they live and have then arrange for psychiatric care.

Best regards . . .

Ivan
