Dear Ivan,I'm struggling really hard to understand someone dear to me,someone i care deeply about..i really need to is someone who suffers from bipolar capable of love?affection?its killing me,i think its me...pls help,,how do i reach him emotionally???he has told me he loves me but never is emotionally affectionate etc..i need ur help before i crack up...

Hi Carmen . . .

Bipolar disorder does not define everything asbout a person. Some people with bipolar disorder are affectionate others are emotionally frozen and unavailable. Emotionality is often totally shut down when people are depressed, but even when hypomanic some people with bipolar disorder are emotionally unavailable. This is often because of some other disorder such as obsessive-compulsive personality disorder.

Unfortunately I cannot give you any advice that will help you reach the man you love.
