Bipolar Disorder/Relationships with a person diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder

Question
Ma'am,
I am Brandon, a 23 year old male.  A month ago, I started a relationship with a girl named Nicole.  She was diagnosed with Bipolar mania.  I don't know exactly what that is, but it doesn't change the way I feel about her. Will it (the disorder) change how she sees me? I'm here first real boyfriend and doesn't trust me as it is because of things men did to her earlier in life. Will she ever trust me? What can I do to cope with being in this relationship? What can I do to help? Thank you so much in advance for your help and support.

Sicerely,
                      Brandon

Answer
Dear Bandon,

It is nice to hear how you feel about your girlfriend. Yes there may be problems, because she may be bombarded with unusual stress hormones. These in themselves will cause her to have a low self-esteem, unrelated to any experiences she may have encountered in the past.

See:

But a lot can be done nutritionally to help your girlfriend overcome some of the symptom of Bipolar Disorder. Most Bipolar patents respond very well to the hypoglycemic diet especially adjusted to the individual and having regard to possible allergies that can also cause Bipolar Symptoms.

The manic stage can be treated by lecithin. Please search our web site for LECITHIN. This should however not be taken in the depressive stage. There is a lot of literature on Bipolar disorder.

I strongly suggest that apart from being under the supervision of her psychiatrist, that she be referred to a Nutritional Doctor or Clinical Nutritionist.

Also look up books by Werbach: Nutritional Influences on Mental Illness.

I hope i have been of some help.
