i have bipolar ive been taken the pills but they make me not myself. im 18 i just got on the pills and i want to try to controle my bipolar by myself with out any kinda of pills and i was wondering if you ever felt like i have cause i really would like to know what helped you though this problem

Answer
Hi, Tom . . .

Bipolar disorder is best controlled by a combination of psychotherapy and medicine. To try to control bipolar disorder without psychotherapy and medication not only often unsuccessful but is also quite dangerous. In addition to the danger of suicide when depressed, there are also the dangers of damage to one's social, family and occupational lives when manic.

Many people with bipolar disorder have to try many combinations of medication before they find a combination that is both effective and tolerable for them. Please do not give up on medication after trying one or two combinations.

Best regards . . .
