Bipolar Disorder/my 16 yr daughter , indigo child, aslo bipolar lives with father
Expert: Jurriaan Plesman, Nutritional Psychotherapist - 7/22/2008
QuestionI let her go to different state to live with her father two years ago hoping it was normal teenage hormones making her cry and extremely happy all in same day. The first year seemed like she was doing better, this year each time she has came to see me for couple of weeks it is obvious there are problems. Her father took her to primary care Dr and put her on zoloft or one of those that says not recommended for under 18, I guess I shouldnt have said anything because she quit taking it and he hasnt taken her back and she is going down hill. I was on trofanill sp? when I was 17 so I know genetics are big part. I dont understand bipolar disorder, what can I do, what doctor can I trust, her friends came to me after this last visit and told me something was not right with her, she is not the same person, I had already noticed, she accused me of being out to get her because I asked her if she was doing drugs, I drug tested her because she was acting crazy, talking ninety to nothing at times and not saying a word an hour later, she was clean. She left and went home, found out next day she took about $500 from my change jar, I had just given her $300 in cash, she denies doing it saying it was only $20, she seems to believe that in her mind. This last visit scared me so bad, I am afraid for her. I had taken her to counsler when she lived with me and the counsler said she was extremely smart, she used the word indigo and said school bored her. I want her on medication but not lithium or medicine she will get hyper on or zombie out on, she has addictive personality, like me and I dont want her to get addicted to hyper feeling or zombie feeling, if that makes sense. We both are alike in we are both very good at sensing things to come or knowing little things that are going to happen, nothing in partiular, just listed to that first voice in your head saying something is wrong and it is usually right, I am going to loose her if I dont take control and get her the help she needs, I think her father has given up or just doesnt know what to do. What medicine should a sixteen year old not take for sure and what are good ones to start with
AnswerDear Athenaq,
I am not entirely clear what the matter is with your daughter. If she is Bipolar then Lithium would be one of the drugs she could be on. Lithium is not an addictive drugs. The best is to have her seen by a psychiatrist. Also search our web site for LECITHIN.
As an Nutritional Psychologist I am into the Nutritional Aspects of mood disorders. Bipolar people usually benefit from going on a hypoglycemic diet, that seems to stabilise moods, but of course will not cure it on its own.
I am not sure whether you are saying that your daughter is on drugs or a drug addict, but if she is i suggest your read some of the following articles:

and maybe ask your doctor to refer your daughter to a Nutritional Doctor, a Clinical Nutritionist or a Nutritional Psychologist if you want to.
Perhaps the above articles may be of some help.
