Bipolar Disorder/daughter

Question
My daughter recently left a 45 day treatment facility for eating disorders. She is bipolar and has feelings that you would probably call schizoaffective that make her believe she is too fat and being watched, etc. She is on 100 mg paxil and 5 mg zyprexa daily. She is relapsing and is often too out of it to leave the house. She is afraid someone will see her and take her picture. I am not sure what to do. Since she is over 21, it is hard to get anyone to talk to me and she has no insurance. I feel like she could be helped with the right medication and would like to take her somewhere, even if it is costly initially. We are not far from Stanford. Do you have any recommendations.

Answer
Hi, Lisa . . .

The best psychiatric care is available through the departments of psychiatry of medical schools. I believe there is a medical school at Stanford. Your should inquire how to go about scheduling a consultation for your daughter.

Best regards . . .
