Bipolar Disorder/mental illness - bipolar?

Question
I am writing on behalf of my 19 year old daughter.  She has been dating someone 20 and we believe he has some kind of mental disorder but not sure what it is.  Some of his symptoms are that he does not like to leave his house, if he leaves for a walk with her he is very uncomfortable.  Because of this they do not do much but spend a lot of time talking on the computer.  Even on the computer sometimes he will say that he feels insane and he starts to sweat and becomes very angry and says terrible things to her.  He was over in her room one evening and was talking to her but she could hardly make out anything he said.  He was moving his leg up and down, rolled over on the bed quickly, sat up and did pushups.  This went on for an hour.  She was very disturbed by this.  He has on 2 occasions mentioned jokingly that he has had hallucinations.  He also had a girlfriend when he was 16 and she was 12 whom he has not seen in years.  They do talk on the computer sometimes but there is no relationship there, but he told her that he would only ever tell her that he loves her, so now he will not say that to anyone else and he behaves very strangely and becomes very depressed if he talks to her.  Is this a delusion.  She has moved on. I am very concerned for my daughter and any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much

Answer
HI lorrain,

It is very difficult to give any advice about any person, who is a friend of a friend. It would be in the interest of your daughter to find out exactly what the matter with this friend.

I am sorry I cannot give a better answer.
