Bipolar Disorder/seroquel

Question
I have been on Seroquel for 3 weeks today.100 mg at bedtime for mood , (depressed mood, irritibile mood)
This past week the side effects included not only the sedation but the tingling of my whole body, I kinda feel electrified?
And my ears pop and I produce more saliva and my eyes burn .

Is this seroquel the only thing for moods?

I love the mood stability but the real test was to come when it was a week before my period as I seem to get more down, irritibile, tearful, angry , 1 week before and up to a few days after my monthly.

I was thinking PMS or PMDD?
What other meds are out there  for someone who is not bipolar , but has mood shifts that interfer (mostly the sad days )?

Answer
Hi Jen . . .

Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication that is sometimes useful for controlling the symptoms of Bipolar Disorder but it can cause tardive dyskinesia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. If your doctor did not tell you about these possible side effects you should Google them and inform yourself.

The most effective treatment for most people with Bipolar Disorder is lithium.

Other possible treatments include Depakote, Tegretol and Trileptal.

Best regards . . .
