Bipolar Disorder/Bipolar?

Question
I'm 15 and I have depression. I havent been diagnosed yet but I've researched it alot and I'm 100% sure. Depression and BPD runs in my family and my mom who's also depressed thinks I'm depressed. I'm not sure if I'm BP or depressed though based on some of my symptoms.

When I'm happy I usually think the whole world is the most beautiful thing in the world. I'm on top of the world and no one can conquer me. I feel like i can do anything and i laugh constantly and just feel really happy. I'm talkative and uncharacteristically optimistic, as if i think the whole world is going to explode in flowers and cotton candy.

I just became depressed a couple of months ago so i remember the way i acted before any of this and i was NEVER that happy and giddy and thinking the whole world's completely perfect. I dont think i have any special powers or anything like that, but i read that the mania state varies in intensity. I dont know if that is manic or just normal happiness or appreciation for being happy because im so sad all the time. Help please.

I can't determine whether or not you are bipolar or depressed, but it is necessary that you talk to someone about this before it becomes worse.  If there is a family history of both, it is very possible there is a chemical imbalance that needs medication.

Have your mother make an appointment with a counselor or psychiatrist for you.  If you feel comfortable with your family doctor, you can also discuss this with him/her.  In any case, it is important that you talk with someone who can evaluate your symptoms better and help.
