Question
I have a friend that had bipolar for 26 years. She can't take lithium and has severe problems with her medicines. She gets little sleep and has a poor quality of life. What could you recommend she do to get some relief.

I think your friend should seek a second opinion / evaluation / and possible treatment with a psychiatrist who is an expert in evaluating and treating people with hard to treat mood disorders. A list of such psychiatrists may be found at:
