Bipolar Disorder/bipolar

Question
I have two questions

1. I live near Lehigh Valley, PA...approximately 75 miles west of New York City. My 30 year son has treatment resistant bipolar I disease. He has not been stabilized since he was diagnosed three years ago. While, he stays on his meds, under periods of stress still goes into mania with delusions. He recently received his MBA, started a new job in NY and lost it in 7 weeks due to missing work from a mania episode. He has now moved in with us in PA due to his financial situation. Question: How do we go about finding a good psychiatrist that can deal with treatment resistant bipolar in the Lehigh Valley area which includes Bethlehem and Allentown,PA...rather small cities)? I have tried calling psychiatrists to ask, but never got beyond the receptionist.

2. How important is it to also find a good therapist? Any suggestions on finding one that trets treatment resistant bipolar?

Answer
Hi, Joyce . . .

If you wish I can try to find you a psychiatrist in your area, who is experienced in treating individuals with hard-to-treat bipolar disorder both psychopharmacologically and psychotherapeutically.

With such a psychiatrist it would not be necessary to have a separate psychotherapist.

If you wish me to do this, please email me at: psydoc@psycom.net

Best regards . . .
