Question
My wife and i have been together for 5 years. She has been involved in drugs pretty heavily for about 2 to 3 years. she quit diong drugs since the beginning of january this year. she didnt go through rehab, she stayed home and got clean herself with my help. about three weeks ago she would wake up middle of the night and believes that i was on the phone with someone, when clearly my phone is no where around me. she had done that for the next three nights. she moved out to her mothers house and firmly believes that iam cheating on her, when clearly iam not. she believes that everyone in her moms house is against her, she has started to hate everyone, gets mad easily, has lost well over 30 pounds. she thinks iam doing things like spying on her through her phone. i have no idea whats going on with her. i have tried to tell her that she needs to get help and i would go with her, but she believes nothing is wrong with her and that everything is wrong with everybody else, i guess my questions are how can i get her help, and could this be bipolar disorder. we have a 4 year old daughter, i just want to work this out with her so we can live as a happy family we were once few weeks ago...HELP!!!

Answer
Hi Robert,

This is a difficult situation for you. It is obvious that she is not well, but it is difficult to pinpoint what the causes  are. She needs to be assesses by a doctor. If you are considering psychiatric treatment please familiarize yourself with the nutritional aspects of mood disorders by reading articles at at our web site and also at:

Try to avoid drug therapy as much as possible by getting a referral to a Nutritional Doctor.
