Bipolar Disorder/remeron

Question
i am taking remeron for depression/insommnia along with xanax for 2 years now.i have had no problems with this combo but i read a lot of articles that say remeron is loaded with side effects like lowering white cells and increasing colesteral and tryglisirides.my doc said it is so rare,and most of people on remeron get little or no symptons.what is your opion?

Hi, Earl . . .

Many of may patient have taken Remeron for the treatment of depression. In general their experiences with this medication has been positive. They have generally felt better and have not experienced severe side effects. While Remeron can increase the level of blood sugar in some people and/or increase cholesterol and/or triglycerides in some, these effects can be checked for easily by doing routine blood tests every 6-months.
