Question
Hi.
I was diagnosed as being bipolar a few months back and have been taking lithium since. But I'm still all over the place. For about two weeks I just sat in my room not talking to anyone and planning my own suicide and severely burnt my arms. Then I started not being able to sleep. I was really not tired at all so found myself weeding the rose beds at 3am but still dont feel tired. I have been having strange head achy type things where everything around me seems to be much louder and stuff happens much faster. Like I feel I can hear every clock second hand in the room ticking and every movement I make seems much faster than normal...I dont know if that makes sense, its a horrible feeling. I'm still an 'adrenaline junkie' my freinds call me. I drive my car intentionally dangerously, like in wet weather I slam on the brakes at corners so as to skid all over the place. This scares people. Are these all just normal symptoms? Will they go away in time or do I need more help?

Thanks for your time,
Harriet.

Answer
Hui Harriet,

I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed Bipolar. I believe most Bipolar people respond very well to the hypoglycemic diet, although it may not cure the illness.

I suggest that you ask your doctor also to be referred to a Nutritional Doctor, as a lot can be done in the hands of a good Nutritional Doctor.

and familiarize yourself with these articles.

Discuss with your doctor.
