Question
My wife and I got married this past July, ive noticed alot of mood changes in her, lack of wanting to have sex, chewing me out for little things, in september she got pregnant, just a few weeks of being pregnant i noticed these changes have gotten 10X worse, in november she left me, with no reason given, moved in with her dad, in december she takes off and moves in with this guy she didnt even know, I hadnt seen my wife for 3 months until last weekend when I went and got her and took her to her fathers house, she hadnt been to the doctor since december 8th, i finally got her to goto the doctor and the dr. pulled me off to the side and asked me if mindy was bipolar, I told him Ive been thinking she was but cant convince her to have her self checked, she is still in denial, im about to make a decision that I pray I dont regret, im going to mental health monday morning and see what I can do to get custody of our child when she is born on/or around june 7th, im doing this for the sake of my wife and our unborn child, at the doctors office it was like i was talking to a 12 year old the way my wife was acting, its hurting me deeply seeing her like this, its not the same woman I married! and help would be great, btw, my aunt has her masters in phycology (sp?) and she also said mindy looks to be bi-polar, like i said before any help opr advise would be great! thank you

Answer
Hi, John . . .

There is no way I can diagnose your wife from a distance.
It is impossible for me to make an accurate diagnosis of a person I have not interviewed. If you go to

http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.bipolar.html
and
http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.bipolar-screening.html

you will be able to read about many of the characteristics of people with bipolar disorder.

Impulsive, inconsiderate, behavior and mood swings are very frequent in people with bipolar disorder.

If you wish custody of your unborn child, I think a lawyer is someone who whom you may want to speak.

Best regards . . .

Ivan
