Bipolar Disorder/Information on Bipolar/ODD children who use profanity

Question
I am trying to find out more information on the connection between children with Biplar Disorder and ODD that use profanity when angry.

My son is 6 years old and been diagnosed with ODD, with possiblity of being bipolar and when angry, uses profanity that is unbelievable.  He only uses it when in a "state," no other time.  I do not use profanity in our house (it is just the two of us), nor do I expose him to friends or family who use profanity.

My ex-husband is trying to gain residential custody, citing the profanity as his main argument.  He is stating that it is due to his environment that he is acting out this way, despite the research and the fact that his doctors have stated that I am not to blame.  I have been encouraging him to do more research, but he is determined to blame me.

The problem is, I am having trouble finding something that states it clearly.  I have read The Biploar Child, Explosive Child, visited many websites, but am not finding what I want.

Do you have any information on that or anything else that might help me keep custody of my son.

Thank you,

Scared, Loving Mom
(Elizabeth)

Answer
I do not know whether your child has Bipolar Disorder or ODD ( a fancy term for Oppositional Defiance Disorder). However, both ODD and Bipolar Disorder do respond positively to treatment for a possible underlying biochemical disorder of insulin resistance (hypoglycemia). one of the symptoms is uncontrolled anger.

This can be treated without recourse to drugs by the Hypoglycemic Diet, described at our web site. (Search our web site with search engine). Also look for possibke gene in the family related to alcoholism, diabetes, mental illness, depression, phobias etc.

We have a special medical Glucose Tolerance test for hypoglycemia described at our web site at:

http://www.hypoglycemia.asn.au/articles/testing_hypoglycemia.html

If you copy the attached letter and present it to a doctor he/she should be able to have the test performed in a laboratory.

There is also the NBI (Nutrition Behavior Inventory Test) but the child may be too young to do this test.

These are possible clues, but need further investigation.

Hypoglycemia and its implications has been explained at our web site. The best specialists to seek advice from are Complementary doctors with post graduate qualifications in nutritional medicine.

I hope I have been helpful.
