Question
can any mental health problems happen from being sexaully abused more then once as a young girl and being raped more then once as a adult?what if any mental health issues can happen

Answer
Hi carrie,

This is difficult to answer as you have not give any details as to what mental health problems you are alluding to.  Sexual abuse as a child can contribute to a stressful life, but most people with good health do seem to overcome this. If you have a bad health, the body might have problems producing feel good neuro chemicals and then you will experience emotional upsets, that your mind may related to past bad experiences.  But psychotherapy that I teach always operates in the here and now. There are factor at work that can be dealt with in the here-and-now without having to deal with past bad experiences.

A case in point is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) which an be dealt with by treating ongoing metabolic disorders.

See:

“Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Hypoglycemia”

If Bipolar Disorder is thought to aggravate the PTSD, the it means that the Bipolar Disorder is not properly treated. I suggest you discuss this with your doctor.

I hop I have been helpful.
