Bipolar Disorder/suggested reading?

Question
Hi Dr. Goldberg,

I am bipolar and have problems connecting my thoughts with my feelings.  I'm experiencing a lot of anxiety, because i feel like my emotions come out of nowhere and overwhelm me. i'm almost like different people when im feeling different emotions. and its scary because i don't know where they are coming from.

I was wondering if you had any reading suggestions for me, or ideally a workbook i can do to help me understand where my emotions come from. I thought perhaps you had seen this problem in your other bipolar patients?

i don't want to treat this with more medication, any advice would be great. please!

Answer
Hi . . .

While you might find the workbook at:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1572243635/qid=1114742523/sr=1-6/r...

to be useful. I think people need to get their moods under control via medical treatment before they can really profit from such a book.

Best regards . . .

Ivan
