Birding/Wren invader

Question
We discovered a wren in our apartment. The bird was in the back room that opens up to our back porch. We opened the door and the bird flew out but has been perching on the porch for the past two days and chirping and spinning in circles. It's almost as if it wants back inside. Is it possible the bird laid an egg in the room? It's an office with many shelves and we have found nothing yet. Do you know why the bird would hang around?

Answer
Sorry for the delay.

Wrens are notorious for nesting in strange places. There is more than likely a nest somewhere in your house. The damage that the little bird can do to the inside of your home is minimal (perhaps some droppings)

The incubation is 2 weeks and the time it takes for the babies to fledge is 11-14 days. If you can suffer through all that, then it will be over.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
