Question

i think this is a pic
I found a nest that was made by a nut hatch in our tractor and my dad has to use it so they will most likely die what tempurature do i keep the eggs and when they hatch how do i take care of them?

Answer
Eggs must be kept at 101 degrees farenheit, which can be done with a conventional incubator. Most other heat sources are not consistent enough or get too hot in some places and not enough in others. A heat lamp might work, but you will need to regulate the temperature. Incubation is about 12 days. They will be ready to fledge (leave the nest) at 18-21 days.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
