Would  a  Bald  Eagle  Kill   a  Black  Mamba?
I  know  it  is  a  silly  Question  that  i  should
know  the  answer to  but  I just  want  to  know  if
i  am  right  i  think  it  would.

Answer
Okay, this is sort of along the same lines of pitting Marvel Comics and DC Comics superheroes against one another. They exist in two separate universes.

The Bald Eagle is a North American bird -found mostly in the US in Mexico. The Black Mamba is a venemous snake found only in Africa. One bite can kill a grown man.

Bald Eagles primarily eat fish and not reptiles.
I assume that they are physically capable of lifting a Black Mamba in their talons. But one bite from the snake would surely immobalize them, so it would be a rather pointless venture and they probably wouldn't bother.

So...would a Bald Eagle kill a Black Mamba? Not very likely. Even if they were intentionally placed in the same cage together -statistically, the snake would be more likely to go after the eagle before the eagle would go after him.

Hope this helps.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
