Question
I need some help because was walking in my backyard when i heard loud chirping I looked and my neighbor's cat was messing with a nest and I saw 2 white things fall from the tree and once I looked at what had fallen it was 2 eggs.I picked up the first one but that one didn't make it so I picked up the second one and that one made it so now I am stuck with a egg and I want to help it live but I have no clue what to do so I have it rapped in a blanket and under a lamp and I did this right after I found it and so far it looks good to me and no bird has formed inside of it yet.

Answer
The best place for the egg is back in the nest. If you absolutely can't put it back there, then you should find a way to keep the egg evenly heated at 101 degrees until it hatches -if it even does. Mind you -this would be second best to you finding a way to put it back in the tree.

Here is a website on raising baby birds -http://aviary.owls.com/baby_bird.html

Keep in mind that their needs vary by species and that we have no idea what kind of bird you've got.

Good luck.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
