Question
Hi I found a robin egg while weeding one day. I took it inside a rinsed it of with warm water and while i was standing there telling my mom about it i felt it move in my hand so right away i got the heating pad and set the egg on top of it on low. And sense then ive been checking on it and holding it for any more movements and ive been feeling more movements.
What should i do with it?
I love birds and i taught a baby bird how to fly one time.
But please e-mail me with the answer. Thank you

Answer
A heating pad is really not ideal, unless you can guarantee that it's not generating too much heat. It should be no more than 101f and the egg should be turned regularly.

The best thing would be for you to find the nest and put it back there, but that's probably not going to happen.

I'm sure you do love birds, but if this egg manages to hatch, the baby inside will need to be fed every 70-90 minutes -24 hours a day.

Here's a site that discusses that - http://aviary.owls.com/baby_bird.html

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
