Birding/SEAGULL AND NOISE

Question
A female seagull is sitting quietly up a tree, in her nest, with eggs or little birds. Suddenly the peace is broken by a motorboat, with people on it making a lot of noise. The seagull reacts in a very strange and unexpected way. What did she do?

Answer
Is this some kind of trick question? It reads more like a riddle.

What did the seagull do? I don't know. I wasn't there. If she thinks her babies are being threatened, she might do all kinds of things. She might flap her wings and sqwak, or she might actually dive down on the boat that's making the noise.

You're either going to have to give me more information or rephrase the question.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
