Birding/newborn bird

Question
i found a newborn bird in the backyard and it was trying to get out of his little house and i noticed that the mother doesnt come to feed it, i waited and i watched the mother to come but it didnt the whole day so i took it inside, what should i feed it and how should i take care of it, its still too small and weak.

Answer
It probably isn't going to survive, since on average, baby birds need to eat every 70-90 minutes. I don't even know what species it is, so I can't tell what to feed it. I'd contact your local wildlife rescue (not the cops or animal control, because they won't care)

I'm guessing it's a wren, though -because they tend to nest in houses and have a habit of trying to fledge before they are ready.

Here's a website with some explanation of feeding baby birds -

Good luck.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
