Birding/Seagulls

Question
Roger, I have recently moved to Corozal, Belize.  This is a coastal town with numerous birds, both land and sea, but no gulls of any sort.  Is this a seasonal thing ( I've been here 4 months) or is this area outside their range?  I've asked around and no one here can remember seeing them.  Thank you so much for this service!

Answer
According to the Belize Biodiversity Information System, these gulls are found in Belize.

Laughing Gull Larus atricilla

Franklin's Gull Larus pipixcan

Black-tailed Gull Larus crassirostris

Ring-billed Gull Larus delawarensis

Herring Gull Larus argentatus

I can't speak to the particular area you are in, but I would find it strange that you would never see any gulls. Check with a local Audubon or bird-watching society. See http://www.belizeaudubon.org/
