Birding/Bird broken leg

Question
Hi, I've just got a RingNick green Indian parrot. She was doing very will and she was very healthy, she loves fruts and vigis, she's around 2 years and she is almost scard of every single thing, when any one gets near her she just run away.

One day when I came back from school I found out that her left leg was broken and she cant walk. There are no vets around here, so I thought of having a little of research on how to mend her leg, I found out it will mend by itself, is that true!

I just let her out of the cage and took out the food and the water out so she wont move a lot and cost the pain to her leg. I can see that she is being very careful with her leg and shes trying not to walk on it.

Is there any thing I could do to help her leg to get better, please help me.

Answer
The leg MAY heal on its own, but not necessarily and not necessarily correctly. Just like with a human being, there are many complications that could occur with bone breakage. That's not even including pain management for the bird. I do NOT recommend allowing it to heal at home. If you need help locating a vet, let me know.

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
