Birding/female mallard with hole in neck

Question
The above showed up today in our backyard who has a hole in her neck that the bird food dribbles out of.  (We feed doves and sparrows-- she must have heard about our smorgasbord) My husband is feeding her bread too and we have water nearby.  We think she is going to die because of the amount of food dribbling out every time she eats.  She will come close to my husband for the bread.  Is there some rescue org. that can help us or give advice on how to help her?  What should we be feeding her?

Answer
THere might be a wildlife rehab center in your area; check with your local fish and game or fish and wildlife or humane society as well. There is nothing special to feed her except duck chow (at your local feed store) but if she can't swallow, that won't help much. You might also try a local vet. Thanks for your concern.
