Question Hi Bob,Is it bad to feed that red sugar water to hummingbirds?Thanks,Tom
Answer There is really no need to do that today. The modern feeders are red or orange and the Hummingbirds have learned to use them. Just dissolve sugar in hot water in a 4 to 1 water sugar mix. In this hot weather it is important to wash the feeders in hot water with a bit of bleach at least weekly, and be sure to rinse them well to get rid of all of the bleach. It also helps to have several feeders spaced well apart (on each side of the house, etc.) to keep one bully from keeping all of the others away.
