Question
THE BABY PIGEON IS 17 DAYS OLD AND CANNOT STAND UP.IT MORE OR LESS PULLS ITSELF WITH IT'S BEAK AND WINGS. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE?

Answer
I'm not a vet. But usually when a bird cannot support themselves, it's related to their bones, which means calcium deficiency. You can get calcium and iron drops at the pet store or vet. But I would consult a vet before doing anything.

It should be ready to fledge at about 28-30 days.

Is it at least eating readily? If it's not eating, then you may have a problem.

Here is a thread discussing theories on that issue:

Expertise

I can answer questions about bird identification (by sight or sound), behavior, distribution, population, conservation, mating, nesting, fledging and feeding. I do have some practical knowledge about foreign species, but identification skills are limited in that arena. Bear in mind that as much as I know, it's possible that at least some of you will ask a question that I am unable to answer. At which point I would direct you to wherever or whomever I thought could provide you with that information.

Experience

I have 15 years birding experience in Southern California.

Organizations
Audubon Society

Education/Credentials
My education is in art and photography -but I have a substantial portfolio of nature related work.
