Birding/found goose egg

Question
hey i found a goose egg at my  college next to a bunch of geese. but kinda far from them. i could tell it just popped out and the mother ran  but the egg got really cold before i could get it warm. but i have it under a warm light and mist it with water. how much hope is there for this egg?? if it is fertile

Answer
If it was not incubated before it got cold, it could be ok, if it is fertile. If it was just one egg laid and there is no nest anywhere, it's probably no good. Having it under a warm light is , unfortunately, worse than keeping it cool at this stage. The egg has either to be incubated at about 101 degrees F or kept cool, nothing inbetween. You need to contact your ag department or a biology instructor or a wildlife rehab center for advice. But I suspect the egg is infertile or addled and will not hatch.
