Birding/Injured Cardinal

Question
A female cardinal flew into my french doors about 15 minutes ago.  She was stunned but finally stood upright.  She did not try to fly away.  It is cold and sleeting here, I brought her inside and placed her in a box.  what should I do next?

Answer
If she has recovered a bit, best thing to do is let her go. Seems cruel, but the longer you keep her inside the less likely it is that she will make it on her own. Cardinals are made to live in these conditions. If she is injured or can't fly, contact your local wildlife rehab center for help.
